Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Walking Friends
It was not easy for the new IVV Presidium, after the elections in Otepää, to take over and to put in order the duties and charges of the IVV. We got no documents or reports from the old Presidium but the new team was not discouraged, new ideas and new initiatives were developed and applied.
A world federation äs IW cannot work efficiently without an administrative office with a fix address. The DVV was charged from the IVV presidium with this office and from Altötting in Germany all IVV Cups will me managed. An english and german speaking person will be at the Service to the federations at a determined horary to be fixed. You will get more precise informations after the next IVV Presidium meeting hold in February in Luxemburg. Also big problems with the existing IVV internet-site, the new presidium had no access to this homepage. We take also here new initiatives and you will soon be informed.
We apply a policy of transparency and our federations will in the future be regularly informed about the contents and decisions of the Presidium meetings.
The new World Report you got today has been worked out and will be financed for two years by the Italian federation FIASP. We thank very much FIASP for this generous gesture.
My best wishes for the new year and for a sincere and good collaboration with all federations.
Joseph Gigl

The new IVV Presidium decisions and new initiatives
by Raymond Claude IVV Vice-President
The new IVV presidium elected in Otepää organized two meetings, one in September 2007 in Landau (Germany) and the other in November 2007 in Japan. New team, new ideas, new initiatives with this will the presidium started his work and one of the first decisions was to render the administrative work of IVV more professional. A "world federation" without an official administrative office with a fix contact address is unable to work efficiently. The IVV Presidium charged the DVV with the "IVV Office". Another important decision was to improve the communication with the member federations, to inform them regularly about the decisions of the presidium by the way of the "letter of the president", a new world report and a new IVV home-page.(www.lVV-web.org)
The Olympiad should be better organized, the federations should be early informed about the accommodations possibilities. Therefore a meeting was organized in November 2007 in Japan and with astonishment the presidium come to know that the organizing committee had no informations from the old presidium about the IVV rules how to organize the Olympiads. Together with the organizing committee was elaborated the Olympiad program, the places of the opening and closing ceremony visited, the accom-modation opportunities were analysed and discussed with a representative of a tourism office. (www.11th-ivv-olympiad.jp)
A team of three experts was nominated to review the IVV rules and Statutes and to make propositions to be accepted at the next delegates meeting in York. The IVV tribunal was charged to give his opinion about the legality of the election of Antalyia as organizer of the Olympiads in 2011. The presidium decided also to promote the collaboration of the federations of geographical delimited areas to promote the IVV in the countries of the different continents. IVV and IML (International March League) decided to collaborate and to fix the conditions of this collaboration by a written document. Most of those decisions require more financial expenses so the Presidium decided to take measures of saving money and to shorten the travel expenses. The accommodation costs for the two first meetings of the Presidium were paid by the organizing federation. The translating costs will be reduced and the Italian federation FIASP will take over one part of the expenditures of the new World-Report for two years. (worldreportivv@hotmail.it) New initiatives for the Presidium in the next future will be to make a precise enquiry and Statement about the IVV and the federations in the world and to develop a plan to promote IVV worldwide.

Three-Day March in Japan
Japanese Vorkssport Association (JVA) was founded in 1993, and joined IVV in May 1994. JVA has had an intimate relationship with Japan Walking Association (JWA) that was established in 1964. Thereafter, 92 walking events (organized by JVA and JWA) are sanctified by IVV in 2007.
We celebrated the 30th Anniversaryof Japan Three Day March in 2007. The Three-Day March was carried out by JWA from 2nd to 4th of November at Higashimatsuyama, Saitama. Total number of participants increased year by year from 1,805 of the Ist Three-Day March in 1978 to 111,052 including 356 foreigners from 25 countries of the 30th Three-Day March in 2007. The members of IVV Presidium attended the Three-Day March and checked how Japanese managed this big walking event. l am sure they were full of confidence in our ability of managing IVV-Olympiad in 2009.

The IVV World Report
by Ciuseppe Colantonio Vice-President
Dear IVV friends,
After a period of reflecting, the new Presidium feel constrained to prepare his own future projects, finally this firstedition of the IVV WORLD REPORT (n. 000/2008), the informative paper which in the eyes of the Presidium must form the link between all of us, open to everyone and all opinions, informative and educative.
l thank the person who before me knew to guarantee constant Information to our sport world: l think all of us have to be grateful to Lynn Clark for the good Job she has done in the past. As you see the lay out of the IVV WORLD REPORT has changed, more modern and more corresponding to the international profile of our federation: the more expenses for the typography will not weigh on the IVV budget but one member federation will pay those expenses.
The responsible person for the IVV WORLD REPORT is the IVV president Josef GIGL, the Editor will be the vice-president Giuseppe Colantonio, but the whole presidium will be involved.
My personal wish is that this informative folder, progressively and within two years, will be a real bimonthly IVV REVUE (sixeditions every year) with a big variety of contents: editorial of the IVV President, editorials of the presidium members, news on the Presidium meetings, report about important international events, articles on education, scientific articles concerning our sport interests, Communications from the member federa-tions and their clubs, questions to the IVV President and answers, publicity, invited persons, photo gallery ......
It is possible, if all of us want it, our IVV REVUE. l address to all IVV members, to the federations and their members my sincere greetings from the editorial board, and rely on all of you to collaborate: send please all your reports and Communications by E-mail to following address, exclusively for all WORLD REPORTS: worldreportivv@hotmail.it
Thank you
Professional structures
The IVV, an international sport federation, need a professional structure. Therefore an administrative office with an official postal address, phone, fax and E-mail is absolutely necessary. Also a secretariat opened at a fix horary to fulfil fixed and determined duties. The necessity of such an office was already recognized some years ago, but the new Presidium now realized the official IVV Office.
